“Ensuring our neighborhood remains our home” is the slogan for the Hillsborough neighborhood, located in northwest  Omaha  at 132 nd to 144 th , Maple to Fort.  These are not just “words”, but rather a philosophy which is manifested throughout the community, its activities and spirit. While many families live in the area’s two-stories, tri-levels, ranches, and splits, seniors and empty nesters enjoy maintenance free living in the area’s townhomes.  Most houses were built in the mid to late 1990’s and have been well-maintained, some even remodeled.  Mature landscaping, trees, and beautifully manicured lawns are evidence of pride of ownership.  Today’s market shows home values in the $170,000 to $300,000 range. Hillsborough’s family and community spirit is reflected through the multiple activities of its Neighborhood Homeowner’s Association.  Many of these events are held at the park which is situated in the center of the development.  A playground, basketball and tennis courts, as well as a walking/biking trail, are magnets for kids and adults.  And this park is where the neighborhood gathers for “Movies in the Park”, an Independence Day Parade with a Hot Dog Grill-Out, an Easter Egg Hunt, a National Night Out gathering, and a special, special Halloween –Hills BOO rough Spooktacular, complete with games for the kids, a hay ride to a “pumpkin patch” where each kid gets to pick out a pumpkin, drink hot chocolate, all while “trying out” their Halloween costumes before the actual holiday.  The association also publishes a bi-annual newsletter (which is rated one of the best in the Omaha area), sponsors an “Adopt an Entrance” program,  and a Neighborhood Watch program. Soccer fields, baseball fields, and an ice skating complex are only blocks away, as are grocery stores, restaurants, bars, a movie complex, and retail outlets of all types.  Omaha Public Magnet Schools (Fullerton Elementary and Alice Buffet Middle) are within the neighborhood, and Burke and Northwest High Schools are a short drive away, as are churches of many denominations. With access to many employment options in the city’s northwest quadrant, this is one of Omaha’s best sites for families of all demographics.
